Containment systems are typically modular and can be extended as cabinet rows grow. However, with horizontal systems, major layout changes - such as significantly wider aisles - may require replacement of some components. 

Freestanding containment options, such as pay-as-you-grow designs, offer greater flexibility. These solutions allow the containment to be extended or adapted as the data center evolves, reducing the need for a complete redesign when additional cabinets are installed. 

Planning for future expansion during the initial design phase simplifies later modifications.
