How does containment improve cooling efficiency?

Cooling efficiency improves by increasing the temperature difference between supply and return air. As the temperature difference increases, less airflow is required to remove the same amount of heat. 

Without containment, the supply and exhaust air mix, typically resulting in a temperature difference of around 5–7°C. With containment, temperature differences are more consistent and can increase to 10–15°C or more, significantly improving cooling efficiency and reducing fan energy consumption.
