Each year, the Finance Leaders Awards showcase outstanding performers among finance specialists in France. On April 18th, the Legrand Group was awarded a silver trophy in the "Industry Sector Finance Department" category.
 

During the evaluation of March 2013, Legrand has once again been ranked in the FTSE4Good* index, after its first inclusion in 2007.

FTSE Group confirms that Legrand has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria, and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series.

This provides recognition of the importance which the Legrand Group attaches to growing its business in compliance with non-financial criteria of corporate social and environmental responsibility, thereby placing people and the environment  at the centre of its strategy.

BTicino is present between April 9th and 14th at the 52nd edition of the Milan International Furniture Fair as technical sponsor to the organiser Cosmit in the framework of the "Living Office Project" developed by celebrated architect Jean Nouvel, winner in 2008 of the prestigious Pritzker Prize.

A 1,200 square metre space entirely designed by Jean Nouvel will enable visitors to explore five original working environments showcasing newly developed solutions. The project reinterprets the notion of living at one's workplace by using new materials, innovative technologies including lighting control, and the personalization of surroundings through furniture and objects. Its aim is to offer spaces that are both efficient and comfortable at once.

BTicino, consistently in pursuit of new aesthetic and technological solutions, was therefore quite a natural partner for this project, ensuring that all working environments concerned were fitted with Livinglight Air range solutions. Also on show, as a sneak preview, will be two 10" demonstration touch screens.

With  over  20  years of experience within the Group, he will contribute to Legrand’s  development,  working  alongside the nine current members of the Executive Committee.

Frédéric Xerri, Executive VP Export

Born  on  May  23,  1969,  Frédéric  Xerri  joined  Legrand  in 1992 in the marketing  department  in  Germany then in France. In 1999 he was appointed Manager  of  a strategic business line at the Marketing Department. In 2003 he  became  Sales  Director  in Russia and was appointed Country Manager in 2005.  In  2010 he joined the Export department as Deputy VP Export, before being appointed Group VP Export in 2012.
 

On the occasion of the International Design Biennial in Saint Etienne, Legrand, the global specialist in electrical and digital building infrastructures, has unveiled a new exploratory research project led by the Group's Art and Design teams on control by gesture recognition.

From March 4th to 8th, 2013, Legrand organised a week of events for its employees, aimed at raising awareness of the issues related to equal opportunities in the workplace. Topics such as mixed gender access to professions, the impact of stereotypes, and the place of women within the Group were all touched on in the course of this week, which concluded on March 8th - International Women's Day - with the publication of a webzine dedicated to women, comprising contributions submitted by Group employees of both sexes.

This initiative enabled the entire company to join in supporting Legrand's policy of encouraging gender mixity at work, through participative events including:
- the in-house webzine dedicated to women drafted by company staff and released on the Intranet on March 8th
- a 'women@legrand' Facebook page
- quizzes and surveys on workplace equality
- a street-poll
- and various other communications (computer graphics, videos, etc.)

Having been included in the ECPI EMU Ethical Equity index in 2011, Legrand's membership of this index was confirmed recently following annual assessment in December 2012.
The ECPI EMU Ethical Equity index, comprises 150 listed companies from within the Euro zone, chosen for their good practices on social, environmental and ethical matters.

On 20 December 2012, Legrand was awarded the "Responsible Supplier Relations" mark of approval.

Legrand is one of the first four companies to be granted this mark, which singles out companies in France that have demonstrated their commitment to balanced and sustainable supplier relationships. The award is valid for a three-year period and reflects the enforcement by Legrand of the 10 commitments for responsible purchasing set out in the charter of inter-company relations. Legrand was a contributor to the drafting of this guideline document and one of its very first signatories in 2010.

The recognition expressed by this award also consolidates the Group's Sustainable Development roadmap, in which one of the declared aims is to involve suppliers in its Sustainable Development approach. This is to be achieved especially through greater acknowledgement of social and environmental aspects in supplier assessment. The aim is also to train and support buyers in raising the level of requirements with regard to supplier selection and to increase their vigilance in terms of environmental performance of the proposed products.

Legrand's Swifts cable tray universal bracket won the prizes for "Best Commercial / Industrial Innovation" and for "Overall Innovative Product of the Year" at the 2012 Electrical Industry Awards.

The Swifts universal bracket was designed to become indispensable to installers. Its flexibility allows this single item to replace a vast range of traditional cable tray fitting accessories.

Represented by its General Manager China, Jean-Charles THUARD, Legrand was awarded the "Alliance" prize at the French Business in China Awards gala event in Beijing on Saturday November 24th, 2012. This award is attributed jointly by the French Trade and Industry Chamber in China and by the Paris Trade and Industry Chamber. It provides recognition of the long years of work consolidating the Group's presence and expansion on the Chinese market.

The "Alliance" prize rewards Legrand's ability to establish a variety of partnerships with manufacturers, wholesalers and local authorities throughout China, as well as its highly successful acquisition strategy in this market. 

A new agreement on the prevention of disabilities and integration of disabled people, covering the 2012-2014 period, has been signed by the Group and the various trade union organisations in France.
This disability recognition approach naturally fits with the Group's sustainable development commitment to "Promote equal opportunities by better reflecting diversity in the management of human resources".

Legrand is strongly committed to initiatives targeting people with disabilities. Major concerns today include ensuring access to sustainable employment, through for example the adaptation of workstations to suit individual requirements. Awareness-raising events are also organised to encourage management to give greater recognition to disabilities, and to enable disabled people to benefit from genuine career management and promotional prospects.

Legrand currently employs 330 employees with disabilities in France, thereby exceeding the legal requirement in this respect.

Each year, Italy's Industrial Design Association (ADI) publishes the ADI Design Index, a list of outstanding design projects by Italian designers and design firms.
The ADI Design Index 2012 includes two BTicino projects: the "bedhead unit for healthcare establishments" and "LivingLight range individual plate packaging" were chosen respectively in the "Design for Work" and "Visual design" categories.
In 2011, the LivingLight range individual plate packaging already won the Packaging Oscar awarded by the Italian Institute of Packaging and Italian packaging consortium CONAI, as well as the WorldStar awarded by the World Packaging Organisation.

BTicino is actively involved in the construction of the new Sacred Heart school complex in the Italian town of Finale Emilia, near Modena, located in one of the areas most severely affected by the earthquake that occurred in May.
By providing the electrical material, BTicino has become a key player in this project centered on a building with surface space of 1600 m². It will be entirely made of wood, earthquake-proof and highly energy efficient. Once opened, it will accommodate 240 children aged between 2 and 6.
The project is due to be showcased by the wood industry federation Federlegno at the 2012 MADE Expo fair, via an exhibition including a scale model of the school, photos and videos of ongoing work, and testimony from some of the local children in Finale Emilia.

Legrand today announced a one-year extension of its syndicated loan facility by all participating banks. The move extends the maturity of this €900 million revolving facility to October 2017.

More generally, over the past three years, Legrand has diversified its sources of financing and raised the maturity of its total gross debt to around eight years. This, in turn, has strengthened the group’s already very sound balance sheet structure, underpinned by a business model generating substantial cash and whose rating by Standard and Poor's was raised to A- last February.

This year, it launched a fund-raising campaign entitled "Electricity for health and education in Africa", involving a combination of charitable events and commercial operations. Legrand took part in the European Mobility Week organised between September 16th and 22nd under the authority of France's Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy. This year's main focus was placed on ways of encouraging employees to use alternative modes of transport such as car-pooling or public transport for their daily travel to and from work rather than using individual cars. Such an approach could reduce both environmental damage and the risk of road accidents.

In supplying power to refugee camps in Somalia and Niger, logistics are crucial. This is why ESF decided to provide training for logistics experts at the Red Crescent and at medical humanitarian NGO WAHA (Women And Health Alliance).

To facilitate this initiative, Legrand Dubai offered its premises to accommodate these humanitarian organisations during their training course. Participants thus learned valuable knowledge in logistics while for some it was also an opportunity to discover Legrand or get to know the company better.

For the second year running, the Group's solutions were showcased at this year's Smart Grid exhibition in Paris from 20th to 22nd June 2012. Legrand received an award in the Smart Building category for equipping an office building located at 8 rue Chaptal in Paris.

The 8th survey on sustainabledevelopment (8ª Pesquisa de Gestão Sustentável), organized by “Aequo Research Consulting”, ranked the Group’s Brazilian subsidiary, Cemar Legrand, second out of 114 companies in the “ethical practices” category. This reflects the total commitment of the Company and its stakeholders (employees, suppliers, clients) in terms of their responsibilities.

At the awards ceremony in Paris on July 4th, Legrand was singled out for the quality of its 2012 Annual General Meeting.

Company agrees to aggressive energy savings and reporting practices

West Hartford, CT, December 2, 2011 – Today, Legrand joined President Obama and Department of Energy officials in Washington, D.C. to announce that the company has joined the Better Building, Better Plants Presidential Leadership initiative to create American jobs through energy efficiency.

Legrand is one of just nine U.S. industrial organizations that have joined the initiative as Challenge Partners, pledging to the most aggressive energy savings, management and reporting practices outlined in a U.S. Department of Energy agreement.

By encouraging office and plant upgrades and renovations, the deployment of energy-saving solutions will boost local construction projects and expand opportunities for architects, design engineers, contractors and installers in communities throughout the U.S.

Legrand will enter the CAC 40 on december 19, 2011

In 2011, Legrand received the Oscar of the packaging industry for the new eco-designed Niloé range of equipment, launched in large retail outlets in 2012.

Back in June 2011, Legrand set out its  2011-2013 roadmap for Sustainable Development, stating its commitments in social, environmental and governance terms.

One of the priorities in the social field is the encouragement of diversity in its teams and the prevention of all forms of discrimination. Legrand contributed to achieving this aim by organising a week of events focused on Diversity and Disability from 14 to 18 November 2011.
The week's programme included various initiatives such as:
- physiotherapy workshops given at Legrand's head office by blind and partially sighted therapists,
- a special day dedicated to dialogue with disabled persons seeking employment,
- the publication of a "Diversity special issue" of the in-house magazine, entirely made up of voluntary contributions from employees,
- a question & answer section on the company's intranet on the topic of diversity,
- a poster campaign reminding personnel of the Group's main targets in this area.

This year's third edition of this annual event at Legrand was enthusiastically welcomed by several hundred participants.

The countries of the Horn of Africa (Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia) are currently experiencing one of the most serious food crises ever. More than 12 million people are affected and in urgent need of relief. Humanitarian organization Electriciens Sans Frontières is involved in the electrification of refugee camps in Somalia, and in the context of its partnership with ESF, Legrand is providing the electric equipment required. A first delivery took place just this week.
Managed by Médecins sans frontières and Action contre la faim, the refugee camps will provide basic emergency facilities including shelter, medical care and food distribution.

François Hollande, Chairman of Corrèze Conseil Général (County Council), and Gilles Schnepp, the Legrand Group CEO, signed a partnership agreement covering assisted living solutions in Corrèze.

This partnership involves setting up the very first economic and industrial project aimed at large-scale deployment of solutions for home automation and advanced, intercommunicating remote assistance for dependent persons.

Legrand and Corrèze Conseil Général will be cooperating closely throughout the project, from design through to deployment of these solutions among 2,200 people who will thus benefit from home automation equipment designed to give them greater independence.
 
Through its specialist subsidiary Intervox, Legrand will ensure the design and marketing of the communication solutions involved towards a target group of remote assistance professionals, while also providing home automation training for electrical installers at its Innoval training facility in Limoges.

Yet another opportunity for Legrand to demonstrate its commitment to the high growth-potential assisted living market.
 

Emilie Varral and Frédéric Mundet, two young international volunteers currently on a mission at Legrand Singapore, were recently rewarded by the French Ambassador, Olivier Caron, for the quality of their commitment to, and integration into, the local Legrand subsidiary.

On October 4th, 2010, Gilles Schnepp, the Chairman and CEO of Legrand, and  Jean-Jacques Lozach, the Chairman of the Creuse district council, signed a  partnership agreement designed to contribute to helping elderly people continue  living in their own homes in enhanced conditions of comfort and safety.

Legrand will contribute to this aim in two ways, by providing training in the use  of home automation systems for the personnel of the Creuse district council as  well as technical assistance in the implementation of products such as, for  example, lighting paths*. The partnership will thus allow Legrand to demonstrate  its home systems expertise, reflecting its determination to propose innovative  solutions for enhanced comfort and safety for older people and more generally  solutions to compensate for loss of independence.

Besides this particular agreement, Legrand is committed through various  training programmes and European research projects such as Companionable  and Robots@Home. In all cases, the aim is to make it natural for people to stay  living at home, in enhanced conditions.

* A lighting path is made up of a series of motion sensors enabling automatic  control of lighting along predefined paths identified as being potentially  hazardous; this solution was a prize-winner at the 2010 Old Age Awards.

The EV Plug Alliance announced today the joining of Gewiss, Marechal Electric, Radiall, Vimar, Weidmüller France & Yazaki Europe. Established end march 2010 by Schneider Electric, Legrand & Scame, the EV Plug Alliance aims to promote the use of a high safety plug and socket solution for Electric Vehicle charge infrastructure.

This first extension of the EV Plug Alliance with members from several countries and various business backgrounds confirms the validity of the proposal made by the Alliance to rapidly converge towards a standardized solution to connect Electric Vehicles in Europe. New members will contribute to the creation of an eco-system with one strong standard, accelerating development and adoption of solutions and practical applications to revolutionize the Electric Vehicle charge.

On May 10, 2010, already, Gimélec  announced its support to the EV Plug Alliance, explaining this proposal of convergence reconciles the interests of all participants, users and manufacturers thus allowing the best usage of technologies offered by the different European companies, in full compliance with applicable norms and standards in Europe.

Installed on the infrastructure side, the plug and socket system endorsed by the Alliance will ensure compatibility between multiple suppliers' products. Charge at a power up to 24 kW, in mono or three phase installations, will allow charging electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. Schneider Electric, Legrand & Scame announced today that they are forming the EV Plug Alliance, to promote the use of a high safety plug and socket solution for Electric Vehicle charge infrastructure.

The rapid adoption of a European standard for Electric Vehicle infrastructure plugs that meets the existing security levels required for installation in homes and buildings at an optimized cost is a key factor to develop the nascent Electric Vehicle market. The Alliance aims to provide a label that guarantees full compliance with the Type 3 of the IEC standard for plug & socket in finalization. 

The plug endorsed by the Alliance will ensure compatibility between multiple suppliers' products. Legrand has signed this Communique and already acts towards a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions via its "Climact" project which focuses on three key areas: energy efficiency at industrial facilities, eco-design for new products, and transport of people and goods.
The Group's goal for 2010 is to cut CO₂ emissions from industrial plants by 10% as compared to 2006. By 2008, they were down 6.4% on a like-for-like basis on this 2006 level, as a result of the various measures taken by the Group.
A key element of Legrand's comprehensive approach to addressing climate change is therefore its ability to provide consumers with solutions allowing them to reduce power consumption and environmental impact, while improving the quality of electricity.

Legrand came out on top of the annual financial transparency ranking of companies belonging to the stock market SBF 120 index, a classification which is organized by Labrador, the French leader in regulated information, and Paris business school Sciences Po.
The ranking provides an objective measurement of the transparency of regulated financial information assessed according to four key criteria: ease of access to information, precision, comparability and availability.
Legrand obtained the highest rating awarded this year, 88 points out of 100, thanks to its solid performance in terms of accessibility as measured on the 2008 reference document, the 2009 first-half financial statement and the "regulated information" section of its websites; it won the prize for best half-year financial statement 2009.

Having first been granted BEE (Black Economic Empowerment) certification in 2008, Legrand South Africa had its certificate renewed in 2009, moving from grade 8 to grade 7. This improved rating was due to various measures including the use of local BEE providers, the reinforcement of coloured people among management staff and an increase in the entity's welfare expenditure.
BEE is a South African national scheme that aims to speed up the economic integration of historically disadvantaged population categories in South Africa, especially black people, women, young people, the disabled and inhabitants of rural communities.
This achievement means Legrand is now considered a BEE value-added partner, and its client companies receive points for their own certificates, thereby contributing to increasing the overall impact of the scheme.

For its new Arteor range, Anam Legrand recently won the top prize in the Network Switches category in Korea's U-Life Idea competition. This award is conferred by the Korean Ministries of Labour and of the Knowledge Economy, and sponsored by the Home Network Industries Association.
Arteor is a high-end wiring devices programme for the residential and hotel markets. Its attractive features include the wide range of applications it offers, its materials and its design, but also its clearly international ambitions and wide market positioning.

As a committed promoter of competitions aimed at future electricians, the Legrand Group is actively involved in the organization of the WorldSkills contest, particularly its section entitled "Electrical Installations".

The European POPAI Awards  are organized every year, to reward the best creations of the year in Point-of-Purchase Advertising, Digital Media, Commercial Architecture and Shopfitting. Presented in the category "Home and Garden", Legrand's Modular Corner and Multimedia Stand won the top prize: the Gold Award.
This is awarded in recognition of an interactive user-friendly philosophy clearly aimed at the consumer and end user.
For Legrand this was an opportunity to reassert its role as market leader in terms of providing information, assistance, suggestions and guidance, and a variety of solutions for comfort, well-being, protection and multimedia throughout the home.

In joining the Global Compact in 2006, the Legrand Group made its Sustainable Development commitment part of a widely recognized global initiative. At the third edition of the Purchasing awards organized by the CDAF (Compagnie des Dirigeants et Acheteurs de France – French Managers and Buyers Association) Legrand's Purchasing Management won the prize in the category "Purchasing Management and Team of the year". The entry was based on an original effort at cooperation between Legrand and its suppliers seeking to analyse mutual perceptions and harness their complementarities.
The category "Purchasing Management and Team of the year" rewards the Purchasing Vice-President and his entire team for their professionalism and their innovative approach to the trade, in terms of handling supplier relationships, creating value and managing change.
Legrand was previously a prize-winner in 2007 in the category "Purchasing Performance".

HPM Legrand, a benchmark player in the electrical industry in Australia, has equipped the "Eco Beach Resort" compound at Byron Bay in the East of the country. Powered by solar energy, this complex of villas is fully fitted with the latest technological solutions from Bticino's MyHome system. All the villas, as well as the main building facilities, are networked together for automation and control of lighting, air conditioning and hot water distribution.
MyHome by Bticino was chosen by project investors especially to meet a demand for energy management enabling to cut consumption.

Between November 2008 and April 2009, Legrand organized the second edition of the "Legrand ELEC Young Talent Challenge" for students and apprentices in electrical engineering. The competition unfolded in three stages, beginning with an Internet challenge which recorded over 3 000 participants, then moving on to the semi-final which involved the 32 highest-ranking candidates from phase 1. Lastly, the final saw 16 candidates tasked with producing an electrical installation in actual worksite conditions, around functions in power, communication and home automation.
Besides the reward for each finalist, the prize-winner will enjoy the opportunity of participating in a humanitarian project in India together with the NGO "Electriciens Sans Frontières" (Electricans without borders), with which Legrand has signed a sponsorship agreement.
By organizing this competition, Legrand confirms its intention to showcase and promote the entire electrical industry while boosting its position as a partner for the world of education.

After analysis of Legrand's sustainable development approach by the Swiss agency SAM (Sustainable Asset Management Indexes GmbH), the Group was included in its "Sustainability Yearbook 2009". Legrand is ranked as one of the 7 most efficient firms worldwide on sustainability aspects in the Electrical Components & Equipment sector. Results in line with targets


While sales in the first quarter of 2009 showed a 14.9% decline at constant scope of consolidation and exchange rates, recurrent adjusted operating margin came in at 15.9%, with the decline from the first quarter of 2008 thus limited to 2.3 percentage points. In a context of what is now general contraction, Legrand thus maintained its positions in the first quarter, at the same time demonstrating its capacity to adapt and continuing efforts to reduce costs.

Structural adaptation of costs
In 2008 the responsiveness of Legrand teams enabled us to post solid performances. Over the year as a whole, sales were up 1.8% or 4.1% excluding exchange-rate effects, and adjusted operating margin represented 16.6% of sales, or 17.7% excluding restructuring charges, figure identical to that in 2007.

received the Award for Excellence in Sustainable Design

for its new Slide Connect™ G2 unit, at the 2008 Australian International Design Awards. Slide Connect™ G2 is the world's first emergency lighting and exit sign using a single high-brightness LED (HB-LED), with custom design optics. It consumes up to 70 % less energy than a conventional system based on fluorescent lamps.

Legrand recently won the Jury's special award for Innovation Management in the "2008 Best Innovator" competition organized by A.T. KEARNEY* in partnership with "Les Echos"**. This competition highlights companies which have set up particular means to encourage innovation in all its forms; in total, there were only 4 prize-winners among 600 applicants.
Legrand previously received the same award in 2004 for its "means implemented to stimulate innovation", thus being given recognition for its clear commitment to fostering innovation by setting up dedicated tools. Legrand has won the 2008 Intranet Award for its human resources management tool, Talentis. The award followed a unanimous vote by the jury, made up of experts in training, human resources and new technologies.
The Intranet Award is organised by Cegos Group, in partnership with Entreprise & Carrières magazine and the lesechos.fr website. It rewards the most outstanding achievement of the year in the field of new technologies applied to HR management, taking into account four criteria: the practicality of the Intranet, its efficiency, its cost-effectiveness and its innovative qualities.

Sponsored by BTicino, the Italian adaptive rowing team brilliantly took Gold at the Beijing Paralympic Games 2008, beating the usual favourites from the US and Britain.
This shining example of human willpower also provides an illustration of BTicino's strong practical commitment to furthering the integration of people with disabilities in society and in the workplace.
With this aim the company has, since 1987, taken close to 300 apprentices with a mental or physical disability, to give them a two-year work experience. Besides support and motivation from the group, each of them was provided with a specially adapted personal workstation and supervision by a dedicated tutor throughout their apprenticeship.

Nigeria, a country of 140 million inhabitants which intends being among the world's top twenty economic powers by 2020, represents a great growth opportunity for Legrand, as its commercial and high-end residential markets are expanding fast.

Legrand has just opened a new customer reception centre in Birmingham, in the UK.
The complex comprises a spacious 1,800 sq ft showroom featuring especially the high-end wiring device range Axolute, Zucchini prefabricated busbar trunking systems and Ortronics Voice-Data-Image solutions. It also incorporates training and event facilities aimed at electrician customers.

Legrand has demonstrated healthy resilience in the current context of economic slowdown. Excluding the impact on comparisons of calendar effects and the launch of new wiring device ranges in France at the beginning of 2007, organic sales growth in the first quarter reached 4.1% on a year, or 7% excluding changes in exchange rates and taking into account acquisitions. Legrand continues an active strategy of targeted, self-financed acquisitions, and today announced the acquisition of Estap, number one for VDI enclosures and cabinets in Turkey.
The move underscores Legrand’s accelerating expansion on emerging markets, which accounted for some 50% of its organic growth in 2007.

Actively continuing its strategy of targeted acquisitions, Legrand today announced its third transaction for the year with the purchase of the uncontested market leader in audio and video entry phones in Brazil. The acquisition is subject to the approval of the competent authorities. Following its recent acquisition of Estap in Turkey, the move further accelerates Legrand’s development on emerging markets, which accounted for 25% of consolidated net sales in 2007.

Legrand North America (LNA), which is made up of four electrical manufacturers – Cablofil/Legrand,  On-Q/Legrand, Pass & Seymour/Legrand and Wiremold/Legrand – has been awarded the 2007 Supplier of the Year Award by Hagemeyer, one of its leading distributors. 
The choice of LNA, from among 156 000 suppliers, was based on criteria such as brand strength, product quality, sales support, and an ability to generate growth and profitability. 
Halsey Cook, President of LNA's Electrical Wiring Systems division said: ‘We take great pride in this recognition, which honours the effort and commitment demonstrated by our LNA teams to continuously enhance the quality of its offer and its services.’

Following the publication yesterday of a Dow Jones wire, mentioning that Legrand sees a slow down of revenues growth in the first quarter of 2008, the Group reminds that it is on track, in line with its guidance. Legrand underlines that the calendar effect and the sell-in impact of new product ranges in France which both impact revenues evolution in the first quarter of 2008, together with the economic slow down, were taken into account when setting up its targets for the full year 2008.

Legrand recently signed a new sponsorship convention with Électriciens sans Frontières (Electricians without borders) for 2008, having already supported the NGO in 2007 in its moves to help distressed populations gain access to energy services.
On this occasion, Gilles SCHNEPP, the Legrand Group's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, handed over a cheque for €22,000 to Électriciens sans Frontières. This follows on from last year's "Fair pleasure" operation which involved providing a gift hamper for each order of a batch of Legrand products and systems, with €2 going to Électriciens sans Frontières for every hamper.
The initiative provides a concrete illustration of the Group's active and dynamic involvement in corporate sponsorship.

Ortronics/Legrand, a global leader in copper, fiber and wireless structured cabling solutions presents Mighty Mo® 10 as part of its commercial launch at the BICSI Winter Conference (Building Industry Consulting Services International).
Intended for high density applications (data centers, Storage Area Networks, etc.), the system features the Mighty Mo 10® cable management rack which is especially designed to maximize the airflow of network equipment with side ventilation such as CISCO CATALYST® switches .

The new Arena and Convention Centre (ACC) in Liverpool, which has been chosen as European Capital of Culture for 2008, was opened.
This conference complex, which was imagined and designed by the renowned architectural firm Wilkinson Eyre, comprises an amphitheatre of more than 10 000 seats, an auditorium with a capacity of 1350, a multi-purpose room on 3 700 m² and some twenty meeting rooms.
Legrand, the undisputed world leader in cable management, provided all of the cable management infrastructure for this huge commercial sector project, namely over 4.35 miles of galvanized cable tray and 3.10 miles of multi-compartment trunking.

On 10 December 2007 in Dubaï, the Middle East Centre for Sustainable Development and Watt Stopper/Legrand launched a complete brand new educational programme aimed at improving the knowledge among specifying engineers and electrical installers as regards eco-construction and lighting control systems.
On the strength of its 25 years of experience in electricity efficiency, Watt Stopper/Legrand seeks to educate the trade path in matters of eco-construction, energy efficiency standards and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. In this context, Watt Stopper/Legrand has already provided guidance to a number of organizations, including the store chain Wal-Mart and the city of Austin, Texas, to help them meet their sustainable development objectives.

Legrand turned in an excellent performance in 2007. Sales growth was in double digits and adjusted operating income rose by over 17%, with margins showing a significant improvement, while net income surged 67% and free cash flow topped half a billion euros. Marking another year of sustained progress in all indicators, these results illustrate  the structural change in the business model, with a combination of increased financial solidity and a marked acceleration in growth.

The "Electrical Contracting Products" magazine awarded Pass & Seymour/Legrand one of its Innovation Prizes 2007 for its "Shim-lock", a clever and innovative device for fixing devices onto partitions. This trade award goes to products and systems whose products or services have best responded to electrical installers’ market challenges by offering creative and innovative ideas.

The award once again illustrates Legrand's ability to innovate on a constant basis, while providing ever more added value in its products and systems. Innovation is one of the four core values of the Legrand Group, which holds more than 4 600 active patents, and whose R&D has demonstrated its efficiency by the launch of some 40 new products since January 1st 2007.

Legrand has been awarded the 1st Ecoproduct Award 2007 for Sustainable Development for its Céliane scenario switch. The award, which is attributed by the French Ministry for Ecology and Sustainable Development aims to reward companies that offer products whose design takes on board the goal of reducing environmental impact throughout their life cycle.
The Céliane scenario switch by Legrand ensures optimised energy consumption in a building. By its combined action on appliance standby mode, lighting, roller shutters, heating and water boilers, it effectively permits to reduce energy consumption in a dwelling by between 6 and 10 %.

In October, Legrand organized the "2007 Trophy for young electrical talent", aimed at future professionals of the electrical sector.
After a selection process performed on the Internet, twenty applicants were chosen to participate in a grand final organized at Innoval, the Legrand group training centre in Limoges. Whether performances are judged on sales or profitability, Legrand had an excellent first half. A highlight was the pursuit of vigorous sales growth on emerging markets, where the overall rise at constant scope of consolidation and exchange rates was close to 18%. At the same time, a combination of strong growth in total sales and effective cost controls enabled Legrand to achieve an appreciable improvement in profitability while continuing integration of recent acquisitions. Finally, in the first half these good results enabled the group to finance acquisition-driven growth as well as distribute a €133 million dividend to shareholders and net  buy back 4.1 million own shares for a total of €103 million.
